Fourth Chapel of the Pantheon Basilica in Rome “Madonna of St. Luke”
The fourth chapel of the Pantheon is located opposite its monumental front door.It houses the main altar of the church.
The mosaics in the apse were created by Alessandro Specchi (1668-1729).
On the back wall is an icon painted on wood a Roman-Byzantine panel covered in silver representing the Virgin and Child called “Madonna of St. Luke”, this icon dates from 609.
However, it is a copy from the 17th Century, that is now present in the chapel.
